Good Agricultural Practice is not just about products; it’s also about people.

That’s why our members developed GRASP, a GLOBALG.A.P.+ Add-on product.
GRASP stands for GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice, and is a voluntary ready-to-use module developed to assess social practices on the farm, addressing specific aspects of workers’ health, safety and welfare.

Designed to complement GLOBALG.A.P. Certification towards social aspects, GRASP measures can be assessed together with the GLOBALG.A.P. audit. A GLOBALG.A.P. Certification Body (CB) approved for GRASP conducts the GRASP assessment of your production facilities.

The assessment results are then uploaded to the GLOBALG.A.P. Database, showing your level of compliance, and are then visible to industry supply chain partners and buyers who have been granted access - see list of GRASP Observers here.

The GRASP assessment is valid for one year and assessments are conducted annually.

10 reasons for the GRASP assessment:

  1. It improves your farm social management system.
  2. It strengthens your workers’ rights and enhances their sense of responsibility towards the farm.
  3. It reduces costs of fluctuation as it helps you retain good and qualified workers.
  4. It reduces costs of accidents and breakdowns as it supports clear communication.
  5. It creates a positive working environment by establishing clearer terms and duties.
  6. It encourages worker participation and so helps you innovate.
  7. It demonstrates your commitment to social responsibility.
  8. It raises your standing among suppliers and buyers.
  9. It reduces your risk for social non-compliances.
  10. It can be done at the same time as the GLOBALG.A.P. audit – so minimal additional costs!
